UTel Hosts Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Reaffirms Commitment to Uganda’s Digital Transformation

UTel on 9th July 2026 welcomed Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, Minister of ICT and National Guidance, and Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, Minister of State for ICT, during a courtesy visit to the national telecommunications company.

The delegation was received by UTel’s Chief Operations Officer, Maggie Mukiibi Lutwama, who welcomed the Ministers and led discussions on the company’s mandate, strategic priorities, and ongoing efforts to support Uganda’s Digital Transformation and National Development Agenda.

During the engagement, UTel briefed the Ministers on its role as Uganda’s national telecommunications company, highlighting its continued investment in expanding digital connectivity, strengthening critical communications infrastructure, and delivering innovative telecommunications services that support government, businesses, and citizens.

Ms. Mukiibi reaffirmed UTel’s commitment to partnering with the Government to accelerate digital inclusion, enhance access to reliable connectivity, and contribute to the country’s socio-economic development through technology and innovation.

The visit underscored the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance’s continued engagement with key sector players and reaffirmed the shared commitment between Government and UTel to advancing Uganda’s digital future through resilient, secure, and accessible telecommunications infrastructure.
