On Saturday, September 14, 2024, students from Uganda Christian University’s Faculty of Engineering, design & Technology visited UTel’s headquarters at Telephone House for an immersive educational tour. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to interact with UTel’s expert engineers and gain insights into the telecom network management systems, fiber optic technology, and other telecommunication infrastructure.
The tour, led by UTel’s technical team, allowed students to delve into real-world telecommunications operations, giving them valuable exposure to the industry’s workings and challenges.
The UCU students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn from UTel’s experts, describing the experience as invaluable. The tour not only broadened their understanding of telecommunications but also sparked excitement about the potential career paths available in the field.
Later commenting on the visit, Yasin Kamulegeya, UTel’s Human Resource Business Partner, emphasized the significance of such tours. “This is a fantastic opportunity for both our engineers and the students. Our engineers get to transfer knowledge and share their expertise, while the students get to explore and better appreciate how the world outside their classrooms operates.”
He also reiterated UTel’s commitment to education and community engagement, adding, “We are always open to school visits as part of our corporate social responsibility. It’s one way of giving back to the community while creating and inspiring a dynamic, tech-oriented future generation.”
Kamulegeya concluded by highlighting the value of these interactions, noting, “Hosting students gives them the opportunity to interact with our historic infrastructure and engage with legendary professionals in the telecommunications industry especially at UTel.
As part of UTel’s commitment to fostering education and innovation, we look forward to continued collaborations, and engagements with academic institutions, enabling more students to engage with industry-leading technologies and enhance their practical skills.
